ThreeÂ’s Company Cristophe Beverly Hills Introduces Three New Products Offering Triple the Protection and Shine

Your hair care products should work hard for you. Introducing a line of leave-in products that have been formulated to deliver multiple benefts in one luxurious fomula.

(PRWEB) July 30, 2005

ThreeÂ’s never a crowd. There are three fairy godmothers, three blind mice, three stooges and three wise men. If all good things come in three, itÂ’s no surprise that the latest innovations from beauty companies treat more than one beauty blunder in the same product.

In haircare, the most common three complaints from women are frizz, dryness and damage. Instead of purchasing three separate products for each hair dilemma, Cristophe Beverly Hills offers three, 3-In-1 solutions to hairÂ’s most stubborn problems.

OneÂ

Flyaways are an everyday complaint for most women with thin hair. Hair serum is avoided because it tends to make thin hair look flat and greasy. Instead of letting your flyaways ruin your day, Cristophe Beverly Hills Light to Medium Strength Hair Serum is formulated for those with thin to normal hair and helps to prevents frizz and flyaways while imparting a radiant shine with UV protection. Containing Heliogenol, a natural shield against the sun, this serum protects, shines and defrizzes hair all in one step.

TwoÂ

Everyday serums are no match for thick, coarse hair. This type of hair needs extra attention—not extra product—to smooth the texture and impart shine. Cristophe Beverly Hills Extra Strength Hair Serum tackles tough tresses with a super infused formula that massages each strand to create a healthy, luminous glow without looking greasy.

ThreeÂ

All hair types need protection whether from the sun or environmental stress. Like a daily vitamin for your hair, Cristophe Beverly Hills Leave-In Conditioning Spray is a 3-in-1 formula that delivers nourishing conditioners to dry, stressed hair. Use before heat styling to detangle and infuse extra moisture while protecting from UV exposure.

The 3-in-1 Series products from Cristophe Beverly Hills retail for $9.99 each and are available exclusively at CVS stores nationwide, CVS. com, and Cristophe Salons.

A Properly Fitted Bike “Make sure your bike fits! To get both the best performance and enjoyment from cycling, regardless of whether you’re riding for fun or to win, a properly fitted bike is a must. So, how do you fit a bike?

A properly sized bike allows you to extend your leg as far as possible without completely straightening your knee—if the saddle is too low, you won’t be able to achieve this optimum leg extension. And, you should be able to straddle the frame with both feet flat and still have a bit of clearance.”

After searching unsuccessfully for the perfect pet shampoo, HG Pet Products President Chuck Rubin, known by many in Hollywood circles as the pet groomer to the stars, spent two years developing his own line of organic, pure, sulfate-free pet body wash formulated for long-term hair and skin health. HG Pet Body Wash is the Mercedes of pet shampoos and is manufactured in an FDA approved facility.

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) July 26, 2007

When you're flying in town for a red carpet event and your four-legged diva badly needs a tease-and-comb, who can you call? Why, L. A.'s own Dr. Doolittle, of course -- Chuck Rubin. For over 10 years, Chuck and his professional staff have been expertly providing spa-level bathing, grooming, and styling to the pets of people who are used to specifying the thread count of the sheets in their hotel suites -- as well as people who just love their animals.

Named Best in L. A. by Los Angeles Magazine, Chuck is rumored to have been in contact to provide on-set grooming for several television shows and to count Maria Carey, Halle Berry, and Robin Thicke among his celebrity clients... but he's not talking. Discretion comes with the territory. The real secret to his success? "Simple," says the soft-spoken Rubin. "I love animals. We believe every pet is a star."

After searching unsuccessfully for the perfect pet shampoo and conditioner, Chuck has spent two years developing his own line of organic, pure, sulfate-free body washes, formulated for long-term hair and skin health. HG Pet Body Wash will premiere in the VIP gift bags at the GRAMMY Foundation's "Starry Night" benefit this summer... which takes care of Quincy Jones, Gloria Estefan, Patti LaBelle and Kanye West, but you can look for them soon in the finest stores this fall.

This incredible pet shampoo is manufactured in several human and pet appealing scents, including coconut, lavender, Moroccan mint, oatmeal and rosemary/cucumber. For the sensitive pet, a hypoallergenic brand is also available. And for that finishing touch, HG Pet Products has an enriching leave on apple conditioner. The shampoo is available in a 2oz. travel size (available for private label) and a 12 oz. bottle (available as a single bottle or two bottles -- with both including a free mesh sponge).

The Charles Bronfman Prize Awards $100,000 to Dr. Alon Tal, Israeli Environmentalist

The Charles Bronfman Prize Awards $100,000 to Dr. Alon Tal, Israeli Environmentalist

The Charles Bronfman Prize, a $100,000 humanitarian award, named Dr. Alon Tal, Founder and Director of Research for the Arava Institute for Environmental Studies and the Israel Union for Environmental Defense, the 2005 recipient at a ceremony in Jerusalem, announced on January 10, 2006. Tal, 45, has challenged and helped reshape Israel’s environmental policies.

Jerusalem, Israel (PRWEB) January 11, 2006

The Charles Bronfman Prize, a $100,000 humanitarian award, named Dr. Alon Tal, Founder and Director of Research for the Arava Institute for Environmental Studies and the Israel Union for Environmental Defense, the 2005 recipient at a ceremony in Jerusalem, on January 10, 2006.

Tal, 45, has challenged and helped reshape Israel’s environmental policies. He was recently appointed by the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs to join the government’s delegation to the United Nations for Combating Desertification.

In 1996, Tal founded the Arava Institute for Environmental Studies on Kibbutz Ketura. Set up under the auspices of Tel Aviv University, he recruited students throughout the Middle East. The Institute has established itself amongst the region’s primary pipelines for environmentalists. Today, eighty percent of its graduates hold key regional environmental positions.

A dozen Jordanian protégés of Dr. Tal attended the Prize ceremony in support of their unifying mentor. Earlier in the day, they met with officials from the Ministry of Environment to discuss pressing issues of the day.

At age 29, Tal founded Adam Teva V’din, the Israel Union for Environmental Defense, to fight for Israeli environmental rights. Considered Israel’s most effective environmental organization, it has won countless legal actions, garnered more stringent regulations, tougher enforcement policies, and increased environmental initiatives.

Dr. Tal was unanimously voted chairman of Life and Environment, an umbrella group for Israel’s environmental community. The organization initiates national environmental projects and under his stewardship, has grown from 24 to 80 member organizations.

Charles Bronfman praised Tal, the Prize’s second recipient: “I am so grateful that my children established this prize. Alon Tal epitomizes its true spirit. His life has been an impressive tapestry of initiatives sewn together to better the world, reflecting the best of Jewish and universal values alike. Through his profound commitment, he has inspired Israelis and others throughout the Mideast to find common ground in preserving the region’s environmental health. He set out to change the world, and he has done so, impacting not only our world today but the world we shall leave behind for the next generation.”

Accepting the Prize, Tal said, “Israelis are tremendously committed to the environment. We can move mountains if optimism motivates us.”

"In addition," Tal continued, “The Prize provides a once-in-a-life-time philanthropic opportunity to create a foundation to support Israeli grassroots activists who face emergency situations, fulfilling a lifelong dream.”

In 1994, Tal was a member of the initial Israeli environmental delegation to attend a conference for NGO’s in the Arab world. The first regional environmental initiative was organized under his direction, and now is called Friends of the Earth, Middle East. Its leadership includes Israeli, Palestinian, and Jordanian representatives.

Chair of an international panel of judges who selected Tal as the 2005 Prize recipient from an international field of candidates, James D. Wolfensohn said, “Dr. Tal has clearly demonstrated the exciting breadth of possibilities in the Middle East when Arabs and Israelis work together for the good of the region and its shared resources. His work proves that joint efforts can yield benefits far beyond those accomplished by working alone. His selection as Prize winner should encourage us all.”

One of his nominators, Dov Khenin, Chairman of Life and Environment, noted: “Even though he is only 45, Alon has managed to start or transform many of the leading environmental institutions in Israel. One can see the impact in coastlines that have been preserved, industrial discharge permits that have been toughened and enforced, and open spaces that have been preserved. Four environmental laws that he wrote have passed the Knesset and he has influenced many court precedents.”

The Charles Bronfman Prize Foundation, a United States 501(c)(3) corporation headquartered in New York, administers The Charles Bronfman Prize. Ellen Bronfman Hauptman and Andrew Hauptman and Claudine Blondin Bronfman and Stephen Bronfman, founded the Prize in honor of their father’s 70th birthday. They are co-chairs of the Foundation.

Intellinx Announces Successful Release of Version 4 of its Enterprise Fraud Management Platform

Intellinx Announces Successful Release of Version 4 of its Enterprise Fraud Management Platform

With New Intellinx Version 4 Organizations can become Proactive in Combating Internal and External Fraud

Englewood Cliffs, NJ (PRWEB) November 23, 2010

Intellinx Ltd., a pioneer of end-user behavior tracking solutions for fraud protection, today announces that new Version 4 of its Intellinx Enterprise Fraud Management Solution has been deployed successfully at five customer sites. The Intellinx solution provides unparalleled visibility to employee and customer activity in corporate systems. Combined with advanced behavior and fraud analytics that generate real-time alerts the solution offers a breakthrough in fraud protection enabling organizations to prevent various types of fraud which holds every end-user, external or internal, accountable for every action performed.

The new version offers several main benefits:
Advanced fraud scoring system that empowers business users with no technical background to configure the powerful, yet simple to use fraud incident scoring engine. It allows anti-fraud and security personnel to respond quickly to new threats and detect new fraud scenarios without involving IT personnel. False positive rates can be kept low by managing the scoring functions, parameters and thresholds.

Improved alert and case management with workflow functions which are easily customized to route cases and alerts automatically or manually between investigators, supervisors and other functions. An alert or case can go through several steps during the workflow, where a set of actions can be defined for each step.

Enhanced link analysis function which visualizes the links between customers, accounts, employees, addresses, phone numbers, social security numbers and other types of information in a dynamic and intuitive way. The system allows business users to create new charts in a matter of minutes and control the chart functions while displayed.

Improved performance of the analytic engine.

“We are listening closely to our customers” says Orna Mintz-Dov, Intellinx CEO and Co-Founder, “In the new version we have enhanced several key functions of the product in response to our customers’ requests. As attacks from organized crime rings are becoming more frequent and more sophisticated, organizations have to respond quickly. Our solution is known for its exceptionally short implementation time, which is possible thanks to the unique approach in capturing business data directly from the corporate network, reducing the need for long ETL projects which are typically required for anti-fraud implementations. One of the key issues that the new version improves is enabling fraud and security teams to utilize and configure the system independently of their IT departments as much as possible.”

Financial, government, healthcare and telecom enterprises worldwide utilize Intellinx for preventing information leakage, IT sabotage and various types of fraud including employee fraud, payments fraud, phone banking fraud, e-banking fraud, check kiting and others. The system obtains detailed forensic audit trails of business related activities of all end-users - employees, contractors and customers. All access to corporate data is recorded and is available for playback, including update transactions and user queries. The Intellinx audit trail and advanced analytics enable adding controls to corporate systems without making any changes in the applications code. This can facilitate compliance with government regulations, such as Sarbanes-Oxley, Basel II, Identity Theft Red Flags, GLBA and HIPAA as well as industry regulations such as PCI DSS. Moreover, Intellinx can be utilized for Continuous Controls Monitoring.

Based on patented technology, the Intellinx agent-less architecture generates no overhead and poses no risk to normal IT operation. The basic implementation process is very short (typically just a few hours) as the system runs on a separate server with no need to install anything on host or clients and with no need to change any organization’s application code.

Cindi Brown's "Poverty and Promise" Wins Two Gold Medal Book Awards

Cindi Brown's "Poverty and Promise" Wins Two Gold Medal Book Awards

"Poverty and Promise: One Volunteer's Experience of Kenya" (Just One Voice Press) by Cindi Brown has won the Indie Gold Medal Award from the 2009 Indie Next Generation Book Awards program and the IPPY Gold Medal Award from the 2009 Independent Publisher Book Awards program, both in the Multicultural category. Just One Voice, a non-profit, publishes books on international development topics and supports rural Kenyan communities through The Great Lakes University of Kisumu (GLUK), where Brown served as a Voluntary Services Overseas (VSO) volunteer in 2005. All proceeds from the sale of "Poverty and Promise" go to assist rural Kenyans with agribusiness set-up and animal husbandry training, including instruction in raising cows, goats, and poultry.

Phoenix, AZ (PRWEB) July 29, 2009

"Poverty and Promise: One Volunteer's Experience of Kenya" (Just One Voice Press) by Cindi Brown has won the Indie Gold Medal Award from the 2009 Indie Next Generation Book Awards program and the IPPY Gold Medal Award from the 2009 Independent Publisher Book Awards program, both in the Multicultural category.

"Poverty and Promise" also won a Glyph Finalist Award in the Multicultural category, and a Glyph Finalist Award in the Best First Book by New Publisher category. The Glyph Award program is sponsored by the Arizona Book Publishers Association. Additionally, "Poverty and Promise" won an Indie Finalist Award in the Travel/Travel Guide category from the 2009 Indie Next Generation Book Award program.

Author Cindi Brown sold her home, cars and other possessions to volunteer in Africa. With only her skills and desire to assist others, Brown hit Kenya hard... and then Kenya hit back. "Poverty and Promise" follows Brown's setbacks and small victories while giving the reader an insider's view of Barack Obama's Luo homeland, polygamy, cycling past Cape Buffalo and floating past hippos, Sikh wedding parties, Luo burials, and dancing to Ahangla music. Brown also takes the reader along on exhilarating and sobering trips of discovery to Ethiopia, Zanzibar, Uganda, Rwanda, and the DR Congo.

Just One Voice, a non-profit, publishes books on international development topics and supports rural Kenyan communities through The Great Lakes University of Kisumu (GLUK), where Brown served as a Voluntary Services Overseas (VSO) volunteer in 2005. Brown's experience in corporate communications and marketing added greatly to her role as marketing manager at GLUK and to furthering the university's vision of training leaders who will guide Kenya out of poverty and up the ladder of development. All proceeds from the sale of "Poverty and Promise" go to assist rural Kenyans with agribusiness set-up and animal husbandry training, including instruction in raising poultry, goats, and cows.

"Writing 'Poverty and Promise'," says Brown, "was my homage to the people of Kenya, and my way of sharing with the world what it feels like for people who live in a developing country, and who struggle daily to overcome poverty. Receiving these book awards has been humbling and validating, and the awards are spreading the book's message of how we, as ordinary people, can help Kenya and other developing countries climb out of poverty."

Just One Voice will release an abridged audiobook version of "Poverty and Promise," narrated by author Cindi Brown, in October 2009, and the audiobook will feature authentic African slave songs performed by Sule Greg Wilson on handmade primitive instruments. Brown is currently writing a children's book to be published by Just One voice in 2010. The story follows a group of American children who raise funds to provide a cow, goats, hens, and roosters to a class of Kenyan school children, who, by raising and caring for the animals, raise money to better their school and their families' health and homes.

The 2009 Independent Publisher Book Awards spotlight the best in independent publishing. Founder Jim Barnes says, "nearly 2,000 independent authors and publishers from North America and beyond submitted more than 4,000 entries. I'm struck by the compassion and concern expressed by IPPY-winning authors for their fellow human beings and for our planet Earth."

The 2009 Indie Next Generation Book Awards Program honors the most exceptional independently published books in 60 different categories from micro to large independent publishers and university presses worldwide.

ArborOne Financial Named A Best Place to Work in South Carolina by SCBIZ Magazine

ArborOne Financial Named A Best Place to Work in South Carolina by SCBIZ Magazine

CEO Jack Shuler cites exceptional teams, exceptional people as responsible for the award

Florence, SC (PRWEB) August 26, 2008

ArborOne Financial (http://www. arborone. com/services/loans/index. jsp), the local Farm Credit cooperative established in 1917, is proud to be named by SCBIZ magazine as one of the top 28 places to work in South Carolina among employers with 15-249 employees. The recognition comes after extensive independent research into ArborOne's employment policies and procedures, as well as a 65-question employee survey.

When asked to describe what makes ArborOne a great place to work for in thirty words or less by the magazine, the company responded: "With conviction and dedication, ArborOne works together as a family; celebrating success, providing support during trials and believing in each other and our purpose to improve life in rural America."

Jack Shuler, CEO of ArborOne, says, "It's a tremendous honor for us to be recognized on a state-wide level like this. We've seen a lot of growth and transition in the last year, but we haven't lost sight of what's important--our people and our relationships. I'm proud that the great team we have assembled here to serve the families and farmers of the Pee Dee region are getting some of the acknowledgement they deserve for providing an exceptional place to work."

The "Best Places to Work in SC" program is a partnership between the S. C. Chamber of Commerce; the S. C. Society for Human Resource Management's S. C. State Council; SC Biz News, operator of SCJobMarket. com and publisher of the Charleston Regional Business Journal; the Columbia Regional Business Report; GSA Business and SCBIZ magazine. The initiative came together to help South Carolina employers have a "looking glass" into their own employee relationships with the goal of benchmarking and improving employee relationships across the state. The benchmarking material is made available to winners and non winners alike.

ArborOne's recognition comes on the heels of a dramatic hiring initiative in 2008 (http://arborone. com/news. jsp? articleId=24), with a particular focus on attaining new talent from the Pee Dee Region. Shuler attributes the "Best Places to Work Award" as a result of a focus throughout the Farm Credit Association on employee satisfaction. "We treat our employees like we want them to treat our customers, and this award is an indication of just that," he says.

ArborOne recently opened a brand-new facility based partly on feedback from employees, and consistently fosters open communication from employees regarding everything from employee health programs to strategic planning for new market opportunities.

On October 16th, the companies acknowledged as Best Place to Work in SC will attend a special recognition event at the Embassy Suites hotel in Columbia, where each company's rank will be announced.

ArborOne is a local, member-owned cooperative that returns profits to its member-customers while charging a competitive loan rate. "Everyone here is dedicated to serving rural America and to making life better for each other," says Shuler. "Awards like this one show that we're getting some very important things right--service to our customers, service to our community, and service to our employees. We're all neighbors."

About ArborOne:
ArborOne Financial provides a full line of lending solutions in the 12 county area of South Carolina. For the last 91 years, ArborOne has provided agricultural and South Carolina home loans (http://www. arborone. com/services/loans/home-country. jsp) for people all across the Pee Dee region. OCIA Research and Education Announces 2006 Scholarship Winner

OCIA Research and Education Announces 2006 Scholarship Winner

A graduate student at the University of Guelph in Guelph, Ontario, Canada, was selected as the recipient of the OCIA Research & Education 2006 Scholarship.

Lincoln, NE (PRWEB) May 12, 2006

Shauna MacKinnon, a graduate student at the University of Guelph in Guelph, Ontario, Canada, was selected as the recipient of the Organic Crop Improvement Association International (OCIA) Research & Education 2006 Scholarship. MacKinnon will use the $1,000 award towards finalizing and disseminating results on her project entitled, “Investigating opportunities for rural development: An assessment of socio-economic linkages between organic farms and communities in southern Ontario.” The study analyzes how organic farms are linked to the social and economic systems in their communities and explores various types of organic production and marketing practices. The project should be completed by October 2006.

MacKinnon became involved in the field of organics from an interest in alternative approaches to resource management and the need for stronger connections between and within communities. “With interest in organic agriculture continuing to grow, there will also be a need for people to be able to help build partnerships between growers and consumers. These partnerships will need to maintain the integrity of the products, while increasing both supply and demand,” she said.

Interviews with 66 organic farmers form the heart of the research. A structured survey captures detailed information on farm business and household characteristics and describes the types of organic farms found in southwestern Ontario based on farming practices, scale of production, marketing practices, and labor requirements. Of primary interest in the interview section of the research is the mapping of farm supply chains from inputs to the final consumers, and documentation of farm - community social networks, including such activities as on-farm education programs, membership in organizations, and demonstration of leadership roles.

“Statistically significant results from the project have already been calculated demonstrating significant social and economic linkages between organic farmers and rural communities,” said MacKinnon. “For example, in comparison to the conventional agriculture sector in a similar geographic area this research demonstrates less dependence on off-farm income overall in the organic sample and a higher number of farms with stable or expanding businesses,” she said.

Clark Phillips, chair of the R&E Board of Directors stated that supporting and advancing the understanding of the sociological perspective of organic farming is one of the goals of OCIA R&E. “These goals are based on needs identified by OCIA members,” he said. Deborah Stinner, a member of the R&E Board of Directors and a research scientist at Ohio State University agrees with Phillips assessment. “Shauna MacKinnon has outstanding references and is an excellent writer,” she said.

MacKinnon describes the impact of the research as providing the data needed to demonstrate how organic producers contribute to the economic and social systems in their area. The study will provide a foundation for understanding and improving these linkages. “As resource conservation, a healthful food supply, and ways to connect rural and urban interests become increasingly valued, research such as this will gain increasing currency in both public and academic circles,” she said.

About OCIA Research and Education, Inc.

As a research and education organization, OCIA Research & Education’s mission is to support farmer driven research on farm and at research institutions, including exploratory and demonstration projects. The organization facilitates connections among farmers, researchers, consumers, and decision makers, educates organic producers and local and global communities regarding organic farming and foods.

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) January 17, 2006

On Saturday, nearly 2,000 religious and community leaders gathered in Inglewood for one of the largest interfaith prayer breakfasts in the nation to reaffirm their commitment to building a united community. Spearheaded by Los Angeles County Sheriff Lee Baca and Bishop Edward Turner, chair of the Sheriff’s Executive Clergy Advisory Council, the 6th Annual Multi-Faith Prayer Breakfast brought together a wide range of religious groups from Christian to Muslim to Buddhist to Scientologist. It was held at Los Angeles Southwest College and was emceed by member of the Lakers 2000 NBA championship team John Salley, now with 100.3 “The Beat.”

Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, who received a standing ovation from the sold-out crowd, praised the purposes of the Breakfast. He enthused, “What a beautiful day in Los Angeles, to see people of many faiths, people coming from every community; black, brown, yellow and red; all of us.”

The array of officials and dignitaries and religious leaders attending, included State Assemblyman Mark Ridley Thomas; State Controller Steve Westly; former Governor and now Mayor of Oakland Jerry Brown; movie and TV star Jenna Elfman; Tony Mohammad, head of the Nation of Islam for Southern California; H. H. Brookins, former head of the African Methodist Episcopal Church; Los Angeles Councilwomen Jan Perry and Janice Hahn; Los Angeles County Supervisor Yvonne Braitwaite Burke and Lynwood Councilman Alfreddie Johnson.

Reverend Heber C. Jentzsch, President of the Church of Scientology International and a member of Sheriff Baca’s Executive Advisory Clergy Council, gave the invocation by reciting the Scientology Prayer for Total Freedom. Promoting the “united” theme, he also showed the award-winning human rights music video “United,” produced by Los Angeles-based Youth for Human Rights International.

Actress Jenna Elfman, from the hit TV comedy “Dharma and Greg”, soon to be seen in “Courting Alex”, spoke about the need for people of all faiths to be active in healing in the community. She told of her personal experience as a Scientologist in helping prisoners successfully reintegrate into society. She explained how the program she works with, Criminon, which is based on the works of L. Ron Hubbard, assists thousands of prisoners regain their self-respect and return to society as valuable citizens. She related her experience with her first individual who was serving a life sentence with the possibility of parole in a Northern California prison. As he progressed through the Criminon program with Jenna’s help, he found himself starting to create a new life for himself outside of prison, something he had never thought of before. He had resigned himself to being a criminal for life. He is now training to be a paralegal with straight As.

The Multi-Faith Prayer Breakfast was the opening for Community Day festivities in South Los Angeles, which was held at the Department of Public Social Services Building, two blocks away. Community Day, which is in its 11th year, was originally started to share with residents of South Los Angeles the necessities of life -- clothing and food. The Day has expanded and now provides numerous resources for residents in the areas of education, healthcare, community services and financial services.

"Green" Nanotechnology in a Bottle

"Green" Nanotechnology in a Bottle

Environmentally friendly Mold and Mildew Cleaner and a surface protectant that will destroy mold, mildew, viruses and bacteria.

St. Petersburg, FL (PRWEB) June 28, 2006

According to the World Health Organization infection is the #1 cause of death worldwide and the #3 cause of death in the United States. Antibiotics could control 25 years ago 90% of infection. Today less than 50% can be controlled. Today’s chemical disinfectants and sterilants are causing microorganisms to mutate creating “superbugs”.

Mold is also becoming the same type of problem, its called antimicrobial resistance. This resistance is due to people using bleach. I can tell you from my training that bleach will cause more of a problem in the long run! Bleach will only remove the stain that mold forms, it does not always kill the microbe, it would have to soak for a period of time and then it would probably ruin or destroy whatever you were trying to clean.

Would you be interested in knowing that there are products that will eliminate and control the growth of odor causing bacteria, fungi (mold & mildew) and algae without causing “superbugs”! BioShield 75® is a surface protectant using “green” Nanotechnology. The molecule in BioShield 75® bonds to a surface (porous or non-porous) and continually will destroy the cell membrane of microorganisms so they can’t mutate. This surface protectant will last for years on non-touch point surfaces. This product can be used on surfaces including countertops without leaching. BioShield 75® is EPA registered and is non-toxic after drying. Items that would benefit from BioShield 75® range from all household items to boats, RV’s, attics, crawl spaces and exterior siding of homes. This list is endless…

Mold & Mildew Cleaner 105 is ideal for pre-treating surfaces that already have mold, mildew or algae growing. MMC-105 consists of a 5% solution of Hydrogen Peroxide. Hydrogen Peroxide is an oxidizing agent and is considered the elite option for cleaning because of their ability to effectively and successfully breaks down a stain from the molecular level. Unlike toxic cleaners, oxygen cleaners are more environmentally desirable because when the hydrogen peroxide dissipates, the results are simple water and oxygen causing no negative impact on the environment. MMC-105 works extremely well for cleaning and sanitizing countertops and other surfaces for food preparation.

It’s time to think “green” when using products in and around our homes. Using non-toxic, non-leaching, environmentally friendly solutions are available now and you will benefit using BioShield 75® and MMC-105. Contact Barbara Frese, A Quality Indoor Environment, LLC for more information.

Betting on NFL's Bad Boy - Terrell Owens

Betting on NFL's Bad Boy - Terrell Owens

The first question that popped into everyone’s heads when Owens signed in Dallas was: Can this guy co-exist with Coach Parcells, a guy with no sense of humor when it comes to prima donnas.

Montego Bay, Jamaica (PRWEB) August 29, 2006

How does he do it?

In a season when a franchise quarterback comes back from ACL surgery and two of the most exciting college players in recent memory hit the league, a guy who hasn’t played in almost a year continues to hog headlines. You gotta love Terrell Owens.

The NFL loves a bad boy and so do the folks at BetJamaica. com (http://www. betjm. com), who posted a trio of T. O. prop bets. He hasn’t recorded a first down, but he has recorded his first fine in Dallas.

"The first question that popped into everyone’s heads when Owens signed in Dallas was: Can this guy co-exist with Coach Parcells, a guy with no sense of humor when it comes to prima donnas," said Andy Amato, head linesman at BetJamaica. com (http://www. betjm. com).

"They keep saying all the right things, but the $9,500 fine on the weekend hints at bigger trouble in Big D."

With that in mind, BetJamaica. com has posted odds on whether Owens will finish the season as a Dallas Cowboy.

Yes, he will still be wearing the star on his helmet = -105

No, he’ll be gone = -105

Will He Dominate?

What makes T. O. such an intriguing character and what ensures teams will continue to give him another chance, is the fact the guy can flat-out play. Few would argue that he is the best WR in the league when he’s healthy and playing with purpose.

Getting those two stars to align is the tricky part and it creates plenty of interest and banter - and wagering opportunities.

BetJamaica. com (http://www. betjm. com) offers some tempting odds for those who believe the preseason injury and antics will end when the teams kick off for real in Week 1. Can he lead the league in receiving yards? If he does, will that translate into an MVP season?

Owens will lead the league in regular-season receiving yards = 15/1

Owens will win MVP honors for the 2006 season = 25/1

Will The Cowboys Excel?

Owner Jerry Jones took a gamble when he signed T. O., knowing that his team’s fortunes would be joined at the hip with Owens.

"If he runs his legs and not his mouth, the Cowboys are Super Bowl threats," said Amato. "If it’s the other way around, his presence can have a destructive effect, as we all saw last season in Philadelphia."

To date, oddsmakers (http://www. betjm. com) have been keeping the prop betting steady on Dallas, with no spike up or down, even as Owens has remained on the preseason sidelines and made headlines for missing meetings.

Will the Dallas Cowboys win the Super Bowl = 12/1

Will the Dallas Cowboys win the NFC = 6/1

Will the Dallas Cowboys win the NFC East = 2.5/1

Cowboys Wins Totals

A final BetJamaica. com prop bet that hinges on whether Owens succeeds or fails is the Dallas season prop for wins.

Oddsmakers at BetJamaica. com have set the over/under on Dallas wins at 9.5, meaning fans can wager whether the Cowboys will have nine or fewer wins or 10 or more wins.

In the tough NFC East, where six of their games are against playoff possibilities (New York Giants, Philadelphia Eagles, Washington Redskins), topping 10 wins could be a tall order.

"Their chances at double-digit wins are greatly enhanced if T. O. is pulling with them and not against them," said Amato. "We expect heavier-than-usual action on this prop bet before the preseason is over."

Cut Labor Costs Without Layoffs: 28 Ways Health Clubs, Corporate Wellness Programs, Wellness Centers And Healthcare Practices Can Cut Labor Costs Without Layoffs

Cut Labor Costs Without Layoffs: 28 Ways Health Clubs, Corporate Wellness Programs, Wellness Centers And Healthcare Practices Can Cut Labor Costs Without Layoffs

Twenty-eight "no-layoff" techniques that cut labor costs at health and wellness businesses by 20% or more while keeping valuable health, fitness and wellness professionals.

Dallas, TX (PRWEB) March 19, 2009

"You're laying me off? Actually, no." Successful wellness centers, health clubs, corporate wellness programs and conventional and CAM healthcare practices avoid disruptive layoffs whenever possible. Instead, they use The Radial Group's free guide Cut Labor Costs Without Layoffs: A 28-Point Checklist For Health & Wellness Businesses (http://survey. constantcontact. com/survey/a07e2hdjv43fs7lkdcc/start) to cut labor costs by 20% or even more while keeping valuable health and wellness professionals.

The Radial Group provides sales, marketing and strategy advice to health and wellness businesses including corporate wellness programs, wellness centers, health clubs, nutrition and weight loss programs, and conventional, complementary and alternative (CAM) healthcare practices.

Leslie Nolen, Radial's president, recommends that health & wellness businesses:

"Win your employees' support by sharing the truth about how your wellness business is doing. Then they'll appreciate your efforts to save their jobs until business improves. And they'd rather keep their jobs - even for less pay or fewer hours - than face unemployment in this economy."

She advises health clubs, corporate wellness programs, nutrition and weight loss programs, wellness centers and conventional and CAM medical practices to start with these five tips to cut labor costs without laying off employees:

Health & Wellness Business Tip #1: Shorten your workweek
Switch to a four-day workweek for all employees, including health coaches, personal trainers, dietitians, fitness instructors, and clinical staff.

You'll see an immediate drop in salaries and wages of at least 20% for full-time employees.

Health & Wellness Business Tip #2: Cut senior management pay
Cut senior management pay temporarily. Sales and marketing execs, programming directors, club general managers, and other executives and top managers usually earn several times more than front-line employees. So even a 10 - 15% cut adds up fast.

Health & Wellness Business Tip #3: Eliminate extras
Cut out freebies, perks and extras. Eliminate free logo apparel for trainers, health coaches, fitness instructors, dietitians and other professional staff and drop cellphone reimbursement, company-paid vehicles and company-paid meals and entertainment.

Trimming these expenses can save at least 5 - 10%.

Health & Wellness Business Tip #4: Rearrange work assignments
Shift work to underutilized staff - even if it's not in their normal department. Yes, managers can lead classes or sell. Yes, fitness floor staff and health coaches can clean locker rooms. Yes, trainers can lead group fitness classes or restock shelves.

Health & Wellness Business Tip #5: Think outside the box.
Job-sharing, flexible work schedules, and telecommuting all give you ways to get more productivity at less cost from experienced people. Work-from-home arrangements, for example, can produce substantial facility cost savings.

PETRIS ANNOUNCES A NEW DATA VISUALIZATION TOOL: THE PETRISWINDS INTERNET DASHBOARD

Houston, February 6, 2002 – Petris Technology, Inc. has launched a new software product, the PetrisWINDS Internet Dashboard. This Web-based tool provides an immediate, easy to understand, graphical representation of large complex data sets. Early users have found the Dashboard to be helpful in analyzing the health of a company's assets, projects or facility performance, among many other potential application uses. Based upon the award-winning Map of the Market software application, the Dashboard enables instantaneous viewing of patterns, trends, anomalies, inconsistencies and data as visual indicators, not just quantified data.

Petris enhanced this proven visualization tool, originally developed for the financial market, by allowing the user to create a map using a dynamic link to a database or via MS Excel template. This feature gives the user broad flexibility in the use of the Dashboard and provides a standard for exchanging Dashboard views, or “maps”. The Dashboard creates a hierarchy of data, allowing one to “drill down” into various levels of data presented, and then displays a map which enables the user to visualize that data through numeric values displayed as rectangles of various sizes, colors and relative positions.

continued -

“By visualizing vital asset information at a glance, managers become more efficient, productive and responsive,” said Rene Calderon, vice president of software development and delivery, Petris Technology, Inc.

Additional features of PetrisWINDS Internet Dashboard include:

• Easy to use: learn and use in 10-15 minutes

• Easily customizable: look at data from different time periods or highlight top-performers or problems

• Spotlight a particular data field by simply typing its name

• Change colors: choice of display colors corresponding to process being monitored

• Flexible data loading: dynamically connect to a database or use the PetrisWINDS Internet Dashboard MS Excel template

PetrisWINDS Internet Dashboard is an industry application solution from the PetrisWINDS suite of software, applications, tools, eBusiness, and services for Web-enabled oil and gas operations, data management, and data integration solutions.

American Association of Anger Management Providers Appoints Preeminent Workplace Violence Expert W. Barry Nixon as President

American Association of Anger Management Providers Appoints Preeminent Workplace Violence Expert W. Barry Nixon as President

Preeminent workplace violence expert, W. Barry Nixon, SPHR, Executive Director, National Institute for the Prevention of Workplace Violence, Inc., has just been appointed as President of the American Association of Anger Management Providers; an organization representing professional anger management providers nationwide.

Lake Forest, CA (PRWEB) January 24, 2005

Preeminent workplace violence expert, W. Barry Nixon, SPHR, Executive Director, National Institute for the Prevention of Workplace Violence, Inc., has just been appointed as President of the American Association of Anger Management Providers; an organization representing professional anger management providers nationwide.

“Anger may be a workplace issue whose time has come. Besides the obvious tragic events of September 11th, one of the residual issues has been people’s anger; road rage is frequently in the headlines, workplace violence continues to ravage our workplaces, bullying confronts our kids in school and the #1 circumstance leading to homicide continues to be arguments between individuals that know each other. Anger is real and all around us. It is my intention to establish AAAMP as the premier organization effectively reversing this negative trend,” Nixon stated.

“We aim to educate employees, supervisors, students, abuse victims, batterers, etc., in appropriate ways to channel/handle their anger. AAAMP is at the forefront of a movement that will help make our hectic and fast paced lives a little less stressful, reduce tensions and ultimately save lives,” added Nixon.

The association plans to advocate for consistent certification and continuing education training to sustain the highest level of quality service to clients. According to Nixon, as president he will focus on three key areas: 1) to develop a strategic plan that establishes a mission, focus and direction for the organization; 2) to increase membership and 3) to increase awareness about the organization among anger management facilitators, the public and business community.

Mr. Nixon was selected as president due to his expertise as head of one of the top workplace violence prevention and training firms in the country.

The National Institute for the Prevention of Workplace Violence believes that anger is often the early expression of an employee in need of help or the result of organizational practices that need to be re-examined and if left intact, they may be the catalyst for violence to occur.

Consequently, the Institute believes that anger management providers may actually be the front-end solution to early problem identification and resolution.

Mr. Nixon is well known and in high demand as a workplace Violence expert; he was recently invited to present as an expert at the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) Convention and in 2004 spoke at the ASIS International, Employment Managers Association and OSHAÂ’s Volunteer Protection Program Participants Association annual conventions.

“Yesterday, organizations that ignored quality didn’t survive. For this century, a major competitive advantage may come from harnessing the growing rage and conflict in the workplace; recognizing these as cracks in the system and the emergence of a new management paradigm."

"AAAMP is at the forefront of this emerging workplace issue that has stewed in the public arena for too long. We intend to provide the leadership needed to help the business community prepare to address the debilitating effects it can have on productivity and success,” Nixon stated.

Sugar Land, TX (PRWEB) March 10, 2008

Wealth Masters International (www. wmitoday. com), a Sugar Land, Texas based provider of world class education in Wealth, Health and Wisdom, is giving back in a big way to the children of the Tracy McGrady Approach Basketball Camp. Wealth Masters, through a $10,000 donation to the foundation, has been recognized as a "Community Leadership Sponsor" for the 2008 Children's Basketball Camp, which "spreads the wealth" to the starry-eyed youth of the Houston community.

Since entering the National Basketball Association as the third youngest player ever drafted out of high school in December of 1996, Tracy has been a perennial all star and currently plays for the Houston Rockets. His foundation has supported various programs over the years that enhance the lives of children and enrich their learning process. "I began this process knowing that I could utilize my corporate partner and celebrity status to bring needed funds and attention to programs across the country". Over the last decade, the foundation has contributed hundreds of thousands of dollars to various children's charities.

Tracy added "I want to thank you for your participation, commitment and support of my summer basketball camp program. I am honored to have Wealth Masters International as our Community Leadership Sponsor. My basketball camp is important to me and I appreciate sponsors like yourself that support our efforts. It is not just basketball that the kids are learning at our camp but they leave with an appreciation of good sportsmanship and the knowledge that with dedication and commitment you can accomplish your goals".

"The Tracy McGrady Approach Basketball Camp would like to thank Wealth Masters International for being the 2008 Community Leadership Sponsor. It is an honor and privilege to have this wonderful company impact this year's camp. They have exemplified, with their kind contribution, that the community and its youth have a strong foundation that will last a life time" said Gregory Williams, the President and CEO of the organization.

Wealth Masters is also proud to announce an exciting company initiative which will allow 3 children between the ages of 8 and 13 years old to write an essay on why they should be selected to attend the camp this year. The camp runs from June 23-27, 2008, and each child that is chosen will receive round trip airfare as well as room and board at the home of Kip Herriage, CEO of Wealth Masters International. Kip's youngest son will be attending the camp and this will give the kids an opportunity to make new friends and walk away with the experience of a life time.

"There is nothing more rewarding than knowing that you have positively influenced the life of a child and we are proud to be able to support a charity that allows us to see and experience first-hand the positive reinforcement these kids receive through Tracy's basketball camp. They learn important life lessons in a fun environment and having participated in this camp previously, I can tell you that spending quality time with a person of Tracy's integrity will have a positive impact on their lives" said Kip Herriage when asked why he chose to lead the initiative in Wealth Master's sponsorship of the camp.

Karl Bessey, President of Wealth Masters International added "We (WMI) have always had it as our goal to touch as many lives as possible and our youth are the most important segment of our society… they are our future and this is a perfect place to begin the first of many projects we have which will touch, move and inspire the world as a whole, one person at a time."

Ladies Get Energized and Give Back

Energy Drink Formulated To Meet A Woman's Nutritional Needs, Supports Domestic Violence Awareness, and Helps Fund Breast Cancer Research

Hollywood, CA (PRWEB) July 27, 2009

Women seeking an energy boost that caters to their nutritional needs and thirst for great taste have found a solution in HER Energy drinks. HER, which stands for Healthy Energy Revitalizer, is the first energy drink formulated with women's total health in mind. The beverage provides vitamins and minerals essential to a healthy lifestyle, and takes the investment into women's health a step further, by donating 5% of all sales to domestic violence awareness and breast cancer research.

In 2007 HER aided in raising more than half a million dollars and donated in excess of $75,000 for numerous charities that combat breast cancer and domestic violence. Ladies therefore have the added bonus of getting an energy lift while feeling great about how their dollars are being spent. Most recently HER has signed on to sponsor a series of edgy PSA's supporting early detection, featuring some of Hollywood's top young celebrities, scheduled to be released October of 2009.

HER contains half the caffeine of most energy drinks, or about the amount you would find in a cup of strongly brewed black tea. The formula was created this way because research has shown that caffeine in large amounts (the quantities found in energy drinks formulated with male consumers in mind) has negative effects on women, such as contributing to poor bone density. The lower dose also prevents caffeine induced jitters and other negative physical reactions. HER is fortified with B vitamins, anti oxidants, ginseng and Taurine, as well as the bone building nutrient calcium to provide the energy boost active women need for a full day, while laying a foundation for better overall health.

HER delivers a refreshing lightly carbonated pink lemonade taste, without the medicinal aftertaste found in most energy drinks. HER is available in Regular and No Carbs/No Sugar versions. It is available in select Albertsons, Costco and Target stores nationwide, distributed by Viking Beverages in Minnesota and Wisconsin and numerous retailers, gyms, boutiques and convenient stores throughout Southern California and New York.

Chronotherapy Helps Lung Cancer Patient on the Road to Recovery

Chronotherapy Helps Lung Cancer Patient on the Road to Recovery

Olszowka was diagnosed with lung cancer on New Year's Eve, 2002. The prognosis was very grim: her disease had advanced to Stage four and was inoperable. Though Olszowka was told she had months to live, she decided she was going to fight the disease, and ultimately found her way to cancer specialist, Keith Block, MD, where she received chronotherapy as part of her treatment plan. Today, she is doing very well and enjoying her two children and six grandchildren.

EVANSTON, IL (PRWEB) November 8, 2005

Margaret Olszowka was diagnosed with lung cancer on New Year's Eve, 2002. The prognosis was very grim: her disease had advanced to Stage 4 and was inoperable. Doctors at a very well known university hospital told her there was nothing they could do for her. They didn't even offer chemotherapy as an option; she was told she had months to live. However, instead of giving up, she decided she was going to fight the disease, and ultimately found her way to cancer specialist, Keith Block, MD, where she received chronotherapy as part of her treatment plan. Today, she is doing very well and enjoying her two children and six grandchildren. She wants the world to know about the role chronotherapy played in her survival in the hopes of helping other cancer patients.

What is chronotherapy? Chronotherapy takes into account how our body's natural rhythms' impact our ability to process medications. Patterns like sleeping, menstrual cycles, even our physical response to the changing seasons, are different for everyone. In the old days we called these biorhythms. Today, doctors are finding that understanding a patient’s biorhythms, and coordinating the timing of their medical treatments to these biorhythms, can profoundly affect the outcome of their treatments. This is called "chronotherapy."

“Every drug has an optimal time when it is least toxic and most effective," says Keith Block, MD, editor-in-chief of the peer-reviewed journal Integrative Cancer Therapies, and Clinical Professor, Department of Medical Education, at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Chicago (UIC), and at the Department of Pharmacology. For cancer treatment, this is determined by several factors, including the biological uniqueness of the particular drug being given, the time when the specific type of cancer cells divide the most, when the normal healthy cells of the patient generally divide the least, the patient’s circadian clock and individual rest-activity cycles, and even the time zone the person resides in."

According to Dr. Michael Smolensky, co-author of the book The Body Clock Guide to Better Health, "When cancer medications are given in a chronobiological manner, patients may be able to tolerate higher, more potent doses than would be possible otherwise."

“This method of administering chemotherapy is revolutionary and has demonstrated in large randomized trials its potential to improve survival,” states Dr. Block. ”We have found that often patients receiving chronotherapy reduce what would have been recurring side effects of nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and fatigue. This is important because the debilitation caused by chemo can cause patients to reduce or even stop treatments that could otherwise help them win their battle with cancer.”

Chronotherapy is being widely researched around the world: There are over 62,000 references in PubMed (the National Institute of Health’s archive of biomedical and life sciences journal articles) about chronobiology (how biology is affected by timing) and over 500 scientific articles specifically about chronotherapy. The National Cancer Institute's Office of Cancer Complementary and Alternative Medicine (OCCAM) devoted an entire web cast for doctors on chronotherapy.

So why isn’t chronotherapy used more widely? One of the main problems has been logistics – figuring out how to deliver chemotherapy in exactly timed doses. “Portable infusion pumps may hold the answer,” explains Gerald Sokol, MD, an oncologist with the division of oncology in FDA's Center for Drug Evaluation and Research.

Dr. Block has brought technology to the U. S. that administers chemotherapy via a pump designed to precisely time up to four channels of infusion simultaneously to the individual needs of a patient. Highly portable and small enough to fit in a fanny pack, patients are able to maintain full mobility, play sports, and enjoy a full night's sleep – while receiving their specifically timed cancer therapy.

About the Block Center for Integrative Cancer Care and Optimal Health:

The Block Center for Integrative Cancer Care and Optimal Health, located in Evanston, Illinois, was founded in 1980 by Penny and Keith Block, M. D. with a focus on treating the patient as a whole person, not treating just the diagnosis or symptoms. The Center's research-based treatment integrates an innovative approach to the best of conventional medicine with scientifically sound complementary therapies -- therapeutic nutrition, botanical and phytonutrient supplementation, prescriptive exercise, and systematic mind-body strategies -- to enhance the recovery process. Block has pioneered this "middle ground" approach to cancer care and optimal health – designing a total treatment plan that is tailored to the precise needs of each patient, using a unique set of clinical and laboratory assessments. The Block Center is breaking new ground with the creation and development of Cancer Rehab as an innovative treatment modality, and is currently the only private North American medical center using chronomodulated chemotherapy. Dr. Block was recently appointed to the US National Institutes of Health’s PDQ Cancer Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) Editorial Board in Bethesda, MD. While the Block Center is a full treatment clinic, it is involved in collaborative research with university facilities in the United States and Israel (www. blockmd. com).

Seeing Your Way to Good Health: Innovative Vision Care Looks at the Whole Health Picture

Seeing Your Way to Good Health: Innovative Vision Care Looks at the Whole Health Picture

Ann Arbor Optometry launches new practice with Dr. Jennifer Sortor and Dr. Christina Curcione.

Ann Arbor, Mich. (PRWEB) September 29, 2007

Ann Arbor Optometry, a new vision care practice, will focus on eye care as a key part of overall good health. AAO's principals are Dr. Jennifer Mazzola Sortor and Dr. Christina Curcione.

"After practicing for several years, we realized patients need something beyond traditional vision care. We came up with a holistic approach: We ask our patients how they manage stress, about their hobbies, any health problems, and their activities at work. We give them an experience that helps them look at their whole health picture," Dr. Sortor said.

Ann Arbor Optometry will offer efficient, professional vision services with a personal touch and a premium level of care.

"Unlike many optometrists' offices, we take all the time we need with each patient to provide them with clear, comfortable binocular vision. We are also dedicated to helping our younger patients gain the vision they need to learn at their best," said Dr. Curcione.

Both Dr. Curcione and Dr. Sortor have been in practice in Ann Arbor for many years. Both had been associated with a large private practice in Ann Arbor before opening Ann Arbor Optometry. Their expertise includes:
  • Pediatrics/developmental optometry
  • Specialty contact lenses
  • Dry eye management
  • Laser vision co-management
  • Vision therapy/Rehabilitation

Jennifer Mazzola Sortor, OD, MS, FAAO graduated from the University of Michigan and the Ohio State University College of Optometry. She is a member of the American Optometric Association and a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry. She earned a post-doctorate Master's degree focusing on pediatric optometry and developmental vision, and continues to research and publish on the topic. In 1999, she received the College of Vision Development's award for Excellence in Vision Therapy. Her professional interests include vision rehabilitation after closed head injury.

Christina Curcione, OD is a graduate of the Illinois College of Optometry. Her expertise includes binocular vision disorders. Dr. Curcione has worked with the diagnosis and treatment of developmental vision problems which may affect a child's ability to learn. She served on the Washtenaw County Learning Disability Association Advisory Board for two years and is a member of the American Optometric Association.

The Ann Arbor Optometry office will be located at 2433 Oak Valley Dr. Suite 300, Ann Arbor, MI 48103 and will open in November, 2007.

HCG Diet Direct Offers Tip Sheet on Successful Long Term Maintenance of VLCD Dramatic Weight Loss

HCG Diet Direct Offers Tip Sheet on Successful Long Term Maintenance of VLCD Dramatic Weight Loss

HCG Diet Direct offers tip sheet on successful long term maintenance of VLCD dramatic weight loss.

Phoenix, AZ (Vocus/PRWEB) January 19, 2011

HCG Diet Direct offers tip sheet on successful long term maintenance of VLCD dramatic weight loss. The arrival of non-invasive, drastic weight loss in a short amount of time available through homeopathic HCG weight loss programs have left many focused more on long term maintenance of drastic weight loss than actually dropping drastic weight.

Dr. J. Ronald Willis of HCG Diet Direct said, "After losing weight the major concern, for those who succeeded at VLCD dramatic weight loss, is keeping the weight off. And there are certain hints and methods that will increase the likelihood for long term maintenance of drastic weight loss."

Tips for Successful Long Term Maintenance of VLCD dramatic weight loss:

Tip 1: Don't just "follow the rules"...embrace them instead. If dieters can figure out how to like eating the healthy items that dieters learn to eat while on the VLCD, a dieter's chance for long term maintenance will be vastly increased.

Tip 2: Don't skip the "maintenance phase". HCG Diet Direct's VLCD is followed by a very vital maintenance phase. The majority of VLCD diets are followed by a similar time period of "adjustment" from the VLCD to a higher level of calories. It aids the dieter while they attempt to eat "normal foods" without gaining back weight immediately. Individuals who complete a maintenance period are far more likely to successfully keep their weight off for the long term.

Tip 3: Remember. Don't forget that dieters used to be heavy. Don't forget how hard dieters worked to lose weight. And don't forget how easy it was to put on the weight in the first place. Some dieters keep an "old, fat" picture easily accessible for when they start to forget that it's important not to revert back to old, unhealthy eating habits.

HCG Diet Direct's Homeopathic HCG weight loss formula is the basis for a fast weight loss plan that can be used to achieve drastic weight loss without invasive procedures and with no known HCG diet side effects. It is one of the healthiest fast weight loss plans available. When dieters buy HCG they follow the included Dr approved protocol. Oral HCG drops are taken three times daily and paired with a careful eating plan. The results of the standard 26-30 day program can provide an average of 1 to 2 pounds of weight loss per day.

Mr. Diabetes® Goes to Washington and Reaches Mile 8,000 of 10,000+ Mile Walk to Raise Awareness about Diabetes

Mr. Diabetes® Goes to Washington and Reaches Mile 8,000 of 10,000+ Mile Walk to Raise Awareness about Diabetes

Mr. Diabetes, a senior diabetic advocate has completed 8,000 miles of his 10,000 mile perimeter walk of the United States to raise awareness about diabetes. He says "There will be no cure for diabetes and prevention of the disease is the key."

Washington D. C. (PRWEB) December 6, 2006

Today, on the steps of the U. S. Capitol, Andy Mandell - Mr. Diabetes®, Executive Director of Defeat Diabetes Foundation, completed mile 8,000 of his 10,000+ mile walk of the perimeter of the United States to raise awareness about the disease that nearly took his life.

"It's really appropriate that I reach this milestone in our nation's capitol, since our elected officials are in the position to dedicate much needed resources to the prevention of this disease. And there is no doubt that Type 2 diabetes can be prevented in nearly 90% of all cases," said Mandell. "The alternative is projected health care costs of over 1 trillion dollars annually to care for the nation's diabetics. You don't have to be a math whiz to figure out that this disease can and will bankrupt our healthcare system if we continue on the same path.

"The key to breaking this disease cycle is awareness, prevention and, when it's too late for that then, early detection and proper management to avoid the costly complications associated with this disease. All the research dollars being spent looking for a cure simply aren't going to keep people from getting this disease," said Mandell. "Top diabetes researchers agree with me that a cure is at least 20 years or more out. It's time to stop trying to convince folks that a cure is just around the corner. IT IS NOT!!! Prevention is the key and it's all about taking personal responsibility and making lifestyle changes. That's what the Wake Up and Walk® Tour is all about and why I've been out here walking and talking with the average guy-on-the-street."

Obesity and diabetes are inextricably linked. Yet, the necessary lifestyle changes are easier to make than you think; losing even 10 - 15 pounds can make all the difference. Start by cutting out fast food, snack foods and soda. Institute a family dinner hour and add 5-9 servings of fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as legumes and whole grains such as oatmeal, brown rice or barley to your diet each day.

It's also important to pursue a more active lifestyle -- Mr. Diabetes® recommends walking. "Unless you are severely disabled, walking is something that everyone can do. Start out with a minimum of ten minutes a day and increase the time gradually. In a short time you'll find you look forward to it. Many families can incorporate a walk before dinner. It's a great way to catch up with each others' lives and get healthier at the same time," says Mandell. "These simple steps can potentially stave off the onset of the disease and will certainly help minimize any of the complications. Of course, before starting any physical fitness program you should always work with your medical team to determine your fitness level."

Mr. Diabetes® follows his own advice and walks "daily", checks his blood glucose as many as ten times per day, eats a well balanced diet with plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables, and has medical oversight. In spite of that, he still suffers from some complications of the disease, including severe neuropathy (loss of feeling in the lower limbs), which requires him to use a walking pole for balance.

"People on the street are now taking THE WALK™, and me, more seriously because 8,000 miles is a pretty significant accomplishment - especially, by a senior citizen and an insulin-dependent diabetic; and no one can take that away. We've stuck with it and an amazing team of people behind me have helped make it happen," he concluded.

Before THE WALK began there wasn't nearly the focus and awareness about diabetes that exists today. Mandell would like to think that his efforts have had some impact on that. Clearly, THE WALK™ has captured the imagination of the public. Mr. Diabetes® has personally talked with tens of thousands of individuals who've shared their personal stories - many with tragic outcomes, but he's also provided a real human face that shows diabetics are neither helpless nor hopeless.

About the Wake Up and Walk Tour

THE WALK™ is a 10,000+ mile epic journey of the perimeter of the United States and is now in its 5th year. Defeat Diabetes Foundation Executive Director, Andrew P. Mandell - Mr. Diabetes®, is the sole walker (guest slots are accepted) -- You may have seen him in his brightly colored safety vest and walking pole being followed by an SUV that serves as support. He's walked through 28 states, crossed 80 major rivers, and walked through 4 time zones (twice!), gone through 20 pairs of walking shoes, and 4 Tour Managers. He has personally met and spoken with over 45,000 individuals one-on-one and been honored with 100 Proclamations by Senators, Congressmen, Governors and Mayors. Through appearances at hospitals, schools and civic organizations, and via media outreach he has reached over 50 million Americans; all to create awareness about an insidious epidemic: diabetes. The Mr. Diabetes Wake Up and Walk® Tour will continue through Virginia, the Carolinas, Georgia and Florida before reaching the finish line in Madeira Beach, Florida sometime in the latter part of 2007.

About Diabetes

Over 21 million people have the disease, and nearly one-third of all diabetics are undiagnosed. Another 54 million people are "pre-diabetics" who are unaware they are in danger of developing the disease. Diabetes comes with a host of severe complications, including adult blindness, amputations, heart attacks, strokes, kidney disease, Alzheimer's and a host of other equally devastating problems. Diabetes causes 215,000 deaths annually in the United States alone. More tragic, 90% of the time, Type 2 Diabetes is PREVENTABLE!

About Defeat Diabetes Foundation

Defeat Diabetes Foundation was established in 1990 and is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charity. Its mission is to inform, educate and alert the general public, diabetics, pre-diabetics and elected officials about the disease, its prevention and the consequences of undiagnosed and/or poorly managed diabetes. The Foundation provides accurate, up-to-date and practical information on the treatment and self-management of the disease, recommends diabetic-friendly products and services on their website and beneficial information through a free monthly online E-Lerts™ newsletter. They support public information programs, including the KIDD Project which has provided 3 million Free Defeat Diabetes® Screening Test brochures to 5000 schools in all 50 states, the DAN Project in memory of Dan Kerner, which has produced Public Service Announcements and, of course, The Mr. Diabetes Wake Up and Walk® Tour.
